Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party access locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
